Argos Joint Tariff Agreement

Through the Argos Joint Tariff Agreement (JTA), Argos users, represented by stakeholders who attend JTA meetings, can negotiate the policies governing the Argos system, such as costs to users, data processing, and data distribution. Wildlife tracking has become one of the primary uses of Argos—however, time and funding constraints prevent many in the wildlife tracking community from attending JTA meetings, and wildlife tracking researchers therefore remain underrepresented in discussions about Argos policy. This forum is a place for the wildlife tracking community to discuss questions, concerns, and suggestions about using Argos to track animals. It is open to current Argos users and also to those who are interested in the system but not using it. This public discussion will help ensure that issues important to the community are addressed by stakeholders who attend future JTA meetings.
